George and Martha draw a younger married couple into a night of drinking, verbal combat and increasingly cruel games. As the hosts expose each other's disappointments, the stories sustaining their marriage begin to unravel. Albee's darkly comic play turns an apparently social evening into a confrontation with illusion and emotional dependence.
